Useful Tips
1. Do the research. I bought DW books and it was the best idea. Really helped me in the beginning get a grasp on things. My favorite two were Everything: Destination Weddings and Destination Weddings for Dummies.
2. Look at everyone's bios and stalk the boards. Just reading what everyone else was doing got my creative juices flowing. Take spins off of things and make it your own! The girls on the boards can be the best resources you can find.
3. Search the web like no other. Have an idea of what you want or a vision in your head? Pop it into the search broswer and something will come up to help you. I even search must take photos and such instead of grabbing all of them off of other bios. You may find ones you love even more!
4. Search Etsy too, you won't believe what you can find on there. Plus a lot of it is DIY by the sellers that you can do yourself. Weigh out your time though, sometimes it makes sense to just buy it.
5. Go to craft stores to get ideas! They also have awesome coupons sometimes. Make sure to ask to sign up for any member clubs or such.
4. Understand now that planning a wedding is a second, third, or fourth job. In the beginning, I would be spending a good 6 hours a day looking up stuff.
6. Take a breathe sometimes and plan things that don't involved wedding stuff. Take a night off (it's so hard to do though!! haha) and do non-wedding related things. It keeps you sane!
7. You will always think there is something more perfect out there and will try to wait to make all the decisions because what if you change your mind! News flash: You chose your man and are not thinking there is something else that is better out there! Your wedding will be perfect with whatever budget, colors, cake, location, etc. because at the end of the day...you're marrying the best man on the planet for you :)
8. If you're buying things from the knot's wedding shop...go shopping and leave your shopping cart open for a few days. They sent me a 15% off coupon to clear my cart within 24 hours!!
